Chris and I got on early because I had a raft trip on the Middle later that afternoon. We got to the putin and there was a big log in the drop above, as was on the last TR. This will probably become a problem after the next flood brings it downstream. This Farmlands level would be good for a first timer, with a portage on Lava Dam and Sidewinder (and maybe Off Ramp). The rock in Doorbell isn't consequential and the moves are IV-IV+ at best. Really fun run at the level.
The first rapid, Sidewinder, looked really sketchy. The undercut was really bad, and we both decided to portage. The rest of the run was real good with runable drops, some fun holes and nothing too powerful. Lava Dam was really powerful and I think its a bit high to run. Someone accidentally rolled in the hole above it and went over the left side by accident the other day, and lived, but swam out of it, and was recirculated for a while.
Down below Lava Dam is a tripple drop that cleans up a lot at the lower flows with the second hole becoming a lot less sticky and powerful. The lower canyons are really fun up until Off Ramp. The line was pretty sketchy at this level, but I thought I could make the move. Chris
Video of Jonathan running Off Ramp (12.6mb) The rest of the run is fun and is all boat scoutable. The last hole as the Green Truss bridge comes into view is a big one. The far right side is the easiest, but you can run the gut of this one right down the middle. All content © Jonathan Blum, 2004-2008 • Contact webmaster |
