The Pozo Azul (Blue Well or Blue Pool) Waterfall on the Sarapiqui River is a destination Park-and-Huck for boaters traveling Costa Rica. With semi-reliable flows, warm water, and a classic 30 foot drop into a soft pillow and open pool make it the most run waterfall in Costa Rica. Once you have run it, its easy to hoist boats up the river right path or up the side of the falls with a rope. Here are a few pictures and videos from various trips to Pozo Azul:

Standing at the top, lower water.
Lower water over the edge.
Hoisting boats up the side. Best landing spot is right in the foam.

To get to Pozo Azul, follow the signs to the Hacienda Pozo Azul Adventure Center from La Virgen, Ciudad Quesada or anywhere else around the Sarapiqui. Cross the bridge at the adventure center and follow it up the road. The road forks and you stay right. About 5km down the road there is an unfinnished house with two stories. There is a small drainage ditch next to it that you follow down to the road below. Pass through the gate and follow the road down toward the river. In general, just follow the road as it decends into the canyon. You won't miss the falls, about about a 10 minute walk down toward the water.
